Cisco stops making Flip Video Cameras

In battery,camcorder,camera,Cisco,computers,cool,Flip,Flip Video,gadgets,Other,technology on April 12, 2011 by horseshowchamp Tagged: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hello.

So today, Cisco (Owner of Flip Video), said they’re “killing” the Flip Camera. Now, I post about phones, but the internet is blowing up with this story, and it seems no one really knows why Cisco has stopped making Flip Video Cameras. Well, I’m here to say why.

Two years ago, Cisco (Brand of TVs, ect) started a brand selling small pocket-sized camcorders called Flip Video Cameras. They’re small, HD camcorders that has a USB that flips out of the top of the camera. This is how they get the name Flip. Sooner than ever, Flip Video had become the most popular video camera in the U.S. and outsold Cisco. Cisco doesn’t say why Flip Video Brand is being shut down and not sold, But we can probably guess why. I believe Cisco doesn’t want fame from Flip Cameras, they want fame for their computers and TVs. Now, I’m speaking for all the Youtubers out there right now… We’re NOT happy. Famous Youtubers and Vlogers use Flip Video Cameras almost everyday.  I make vlogs using my Flip Camera, aswell as about 50 other Youtubers out there. Today when I read they stopped making them, I went and bought another Flip Camera! People on Twitter are going to Best Buy’s and getting all the ones left! Guess Flip Video Cameras will be another great thing that is gone…

iPhone 5 template

Hello world! I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought I’d share something fun and cool you guys can make.

First of all, I really like the iPhone 5, and I have an LG Optimus. And those are the two phones I made templates for. I made the LG Optimus template today (March 14) from scratch, and I just found an iPhone 4 template and edited it to the rumored pictures of the iPhone 5. Now, you can make a template of your phone, it’s pretty easy. Just take pictures of the sides, front, back, top, and bottom of your phone, cut them out so it’s just the sides, ect, of the phone, and paste them together.

Anyways, this was just a really quick post I wanted to share. Here’s the templates…

QR codes

In android,apple,apps,camera,cell phones,computers,cool,gadgets,iPhone 4,iPhone 5,jailbreak,mobile,Other,phones,QR code,smartphones,technology on February 28, 2011 by horseshowchamp Tagged: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This is a QR (Quick Response) code. It’s used as a bar code for camera phones, to bring you to a website in seconds without any typing or searching. A QR code can be for text, for a URL, contact info, and much more.

Have you ever seen a movie or TV show about the future? You might have seen these weird bar code things all over everything. That might be what the world is coming to, only with QR codes. QR codes are a really easy to get to a website without typing anything at all. Just open the app for iPhone, Android, and other phones with a camera, hold the phone up to the QR code, and in seconds it brings you to the website. You can make a QR code for your Facebook account, Twitter, blog, or anything else. Do a Google search and you can find a website where you can make as many as you want for free. They’re really easy and fun to make. Anyways, these might just be our new high-tech future. If you’ve been to Best Buy anytime lately, you’ve probably seen the wall-sized QR code on the side of the store near the roof. If you search them in Google too and look under images, you can see them on the sides of buildings, stores, on billboards, almost everywhere.

So how do QR codes work? They work something like this. You hold your smartphone up to the QR code and it scans it. By doing this, it takes a picture of the QR code, scans it with a laser, and it links you to the URL, text, of other. It may just look like a mess of black boxes on top a big white box to us, but all of these little black boxes stand for something that makes up the URL code or text. The laser will scan it in a certain way to find out the pattern of the little black boxes, which make up the letters of the URL, text, and more. After that, it enters it, and takes you to whatever the QR code was for.

Android or iPhone, knowing which is best for you.

In android,apple,apps,at&t,camera,cell phones,computers,cool,fingerprint scanner,gadgets,ipad,ipad 2,iPhone 4,iPhone 5,jailbreak,mobile,Motorola Atrix,motorola atrix vs iphone,Other,phones,QR code,sprint,T-Mobile,technology,verizon,virgin mobile on February 27, 2011 by horseshowchamp Tagged: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Android or iPhone? You are going to buy either one or the other. But which one should you buy? Both are wonderful smartphones, only you need to know which best fits your likings and needs.

Now, I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet, and so you don’t get even more mixed up than ever. I right now own an Android, and I also own and iPod Touch. I’m not going to say one is better than the other, and I’m not going to hate on either company, because like I said, both are great phones, you just have to find one that fits your needs. Some people would be better off with an Android, and some with an iPhone. I’m going to tell you about apps, keyboards, and much more.

First of all, you might want a real keyboard and not a fake on-screen keyboard. They’re about the same, but the on-screen ones are harder to type on if you have big fingers. Which case, you might want to look at a slider phone. Android has both slider and non-slider phones. iPhone only has the on-screen keyboard.  If the keyboard isn’t a big thing to you, then probably you’d do just fine with an on-screen keyboard. It just takes some getting use to. Even still, before you get a contract, you might want to test out a few phones, both with a keyboard and without. Also maybe ask a few friends that have touch screen keyboards on their phones.

Next are carriers. iPhone only has AT&T and Verizon. Android has AT&T, Verizon, Virgin Mobile, Sprint, and more. But that doesn’t make the Android better, just because Apple picked only two of the best carriers to sell the iPhone. You just have to find the carrier that fits your needs and likings, as well as who has more bars where you live and work. All are about the same in price anyways, if not, it’s close.

Next is also something you need to think about. Apps. iPhone and Android apps are about the same, but there’s more to say that about it. Android apps are cheaper and almost all are free. With a lot of iTunes apps, you have to pay at least $0.99 per app. Android has more apps like scanners, and where you can set your Android up as a wireless hotspot. iPhone has more fun apps like Farmville, Zombieville USA, BASIC! and more. Although most of the Android QR code scanners and generators are now for iPhone too. With the Android Market, you don’t really have to sign up for it, unlike iTunes. Unless you plan on buying apps you have to pay for, the Android Market is pretty much hassle free.

How about size and weight? iPhones are small and lightweight, aswell as some Androids. Most Androids are large and kind of heavy (for a phone at least). They’re pretty much the same, but some Androids are almost twice the size of an iPhone, for a bigger screen, and some are build kind of awkwardly. If you want a small pocket-sized phone, probably iPhone is what you want. If you want a nice big screen with a lot of room, an Android is right for you.

What about widgets? You might not know what a widget is, but a widget is what you see on the home screen of an Android. You know, that shows the time, date, weather, all that stuff? That’s a widget. With an Android you can pick from 10 widgets per phone? I Think so… Plus you can download more and make your own. iPhone doesn’t have widgets. iPhone doesn’t support flash and I think that’s why. Widgets will kill your battery in no time though, so you need to think about that too.

I just said iPhone doesn’t support flash, so I though I’d talk about that too. With iPhone you can’t get on Safari and watch YouTube, you have to download the free app first. Which is a little bit of a pain, but at least it works. Just thought I’d tell you all about that really quick.

Browsers? iPhone only has Safari. With Android, you can get almost any browser you want. Don’t get me wrong, I like Safari, it just sometime, you might want something else. With Android, you can do whatever you want with the phone you paid for, not like iPhone. With iPhone you pretty much have what Apple gives you, and you can’t “hack” the phone. Android doesn’t care what browser you use, how you use it, anything like that. Apple does.

Also, fingerprint scanners. Yes, a few phone that just came out have fingerprint scanners. Don’t want your phone unlocking in your pocket? Don’t want your friend getting into your phone? Just set it to your fingerprint and scan it to unlock! Now, right now I think only one of two Androids have the fingerprint scanner, but the iPhone 5 (that’s coming out in September, so say rumors) might have a fingerprint scanner too. I for one think the fingerprint scanner is a great idea. Us teens are always worried about at least one of our friends getting into our phones. And I’m sure it’s the same with adults too. Plus if your phone ever gets lost or stolen, the people that found it or took it won’t be able to get into your phone and see all your stuff. This could be the future of phones, so if you’re going to get an iPhone, probably wait for the iPhone 5. That way if the scanner thing gets put in every new phone, your new iPhone won’t be a piece of “last week’s” junk after only having it for 3-4 months.

So I would pretty much say if you want more of a “fun” and basic phone, iPhone is right for you. If you want a phone that you can put different browsers on, and so-called, hack. Probably you should get an Android.

iPad 2

In apple,apps,at&t,camera,computers,cool,fingerprint scanner,gadgets,ipad,ipad 2,iPhone 4,iPhone 5,jailbreak,Other,technology on February 25, 2011 by horseshowchamp Tagged: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hello, world of technology! Here we have the iPad 2. It’s rumored to come out March 2nd? Maybe, not too sure. Now a little about the iPad 2 or “iPad II”. Now, I’m not too sure what that thing is on the bottom of the iPad 2, but I might have an idea…

First of all, front and back camera. Is it just me, or does it seem like Steve Jobs can’t get over this iPod Touch look? First the iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, and now the new iPod Nano? Anyways, it seems the iPad 2 is going to have a front and back camera, and look just like the new iPod Touch 4g, only three times the size. Which just might mean Facetime!! As well as iMovie and photo shop. I knew this would happen! The only thing it’s missing (besides a USB port) is a webcam!  That’s why I waited.

Next of all, we also might be seeing a USB port. I’ve got to say, that would be awesome. Take your photo/videos right off your camera and put them on your iPad 2, upload them to Facebook, tweet them on Twitter, all that stuff. That would also be great for when you’re out of town, at a coffee shop or at the hotel. The viewing experience would be wonderful too.

Maybe, better screen resolution. Is it just me, or is the screen on the iPad kind of… dark? And hurts your eyes to look at? Now, I don’t own an iPad, but I’ve used them before at the AT&T store. And really, I didn’t like it that much. I though the screen wasn’t that good. So, we might be seeing a better, higher resolution screen. The screen on the iPhone 4 and the new iPod Touch is great, I think so at least.

Maybe, just maybe, a different kind of back. I’ve heard bad things about the back on the iPad that’s out now. That kind of tin man backing gets dents in it and looks awful. I’ve heard someone say they had a great case and it still got dents in it. I don’t think Apple wants their technology to look like this when people are using it out somewhere. Better backing, pretty much a must-have for the iPad 2. No one wants their $700 iPad full of dents.

If you read my last post about the iPhone 5, you know I really think the Mac look on the new upcoming Apple gadgets would look awesome… And now I feel the new iPad, Tablets, and all those things, are going to make laptops obsolete. Maybe we will have an iMac sort of look on the home screen? It would be a change in the Tablet world, just like a Macbook, but without a real keyboard. With the Webcam, this would be one of the greatest things in the techno world.

We also might be seeing a fingerprint scanner, but I think it’s unlikely. I thought that those bars on the bottom of the iPad 2 might have been a hand sencor, but like I said, it’s unlikely. If you’ve seen or heard of the Motorola Atrix 4G, it has a fingerprint scanner on the side of the phone. That way you can set it to your fingerprint, and no one else can get into it. Plus it won’t unlock itself while it’s in your pocket/handbag. That would be a nice thing for the iPad 2, but since that pretty much just came out and the iPad is about to come out and already is out in some places, it’s unlikely.

I’d say we are going to see two cameras, and probably a USB port. Other than that, about the same. I don’t know, am I the only one that’s probably going to get it the first day it comes out? What do you think of the iPad 2? Thanks for reading.

Motorola Atrix vs iPhone 4

In android,apple,apps,at&t,camera,cell phones,cool,fingerprint scanner,gadgets,iPhone 4,iPhone 5,jailbreak,mobile,Motorola Atrix,motorola atrix vs iphone,Other,phones,verizon on February 22, 2011 by horseshowchamp Tagged: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hey people of the phone world. Today, the new Motorola Atrix came out. It has a front and back camera with Facetime. The back camera is 5.0mp and shoots 720 HD video.

The Atrix is for sale at the AT&T store for $199 with a 2-year contract. Also for sale at Wal-Mart for $129, and at Radio Shack for $149. But, not sure yet if we should forget the Atrix and buy the iPhone 4, or the upcoming iPhone 5. The Atrix is somewhat larger than the iPhone 4, and the iPhone has a better screen resolution than the Atrix. I for one think the iPhone is more of a basic phone for people that don’t do much on computers, while the Androids are more for people that use the computer a lot and know almost everything there is to know on a PC or Mac. I have owned two iPod Touches over the years, and I have got to say, you pretty much just start using it. Also I own an Android, but that is MUCH harded to learn how to use. I’ve owned it for 2 weeks now and I still don’t know everything about it.

Now lets talk a little about apps. Android has more apps like the scanner and stuff. iPhone has more fun apps like Zombieville USA, Doodlebuddy, More pizza!, and Doodle jump. But most of iPhone apps you have to pay $0.99, with Android, it’s almost all free. The one thing I would buy an iPhone over Android is iMovie. Yes, on iPhone 4 you can film, edit, and upload right to Youtube all on your phone. iPhone isn’t the only one winning in apps though, Android is winning too. With Android, anyone can make an app, unlike iPhone. Which means more apps in the Android market.

Also, you can play Farmville on an iPhone, you can’t on Android (at least not yet). Rumors say the Farmville app will be for Android when Android 2.3 OS comes out.

The one thing you CAN NOT do on iPhone, that you can on Android? Widgets. You can pick from I think 10 widgets per Android phone, plus you can download and make your own.
